Successful Website Design - Production Process
Before any website design work begins on your business website you will receive your customized website package proposal including a detailed list of what work will be done and a website design and development production time line.
Website Design Consultation
The Business Website Consultation process will determine your business website needs in the following areas:
- Website Marketing - goals, expectations and budget
- Target audience (global vs. local market, anticipated technical requirements etc.)
- Primary function of the website (promotion, on-line product sales, lead generation etc.)
- Website style (Flash site, standard HTML, mobile device access etc.)
- Overall website structure (main pages, most emphasized and/or important content etc.)
- Custom programming or application development (shopping cart, subscription sign-up, blog, CMS etc.)
- Frequency and type of updates required for maintenance (content and SEO maintenance)
- Anticipated budget and time line
If you already have a business website and the project is a website redesign, a Website Audit and Evaluation will be performed. The results of the Audit will be factored into our proposal with special attention paid to text content and other assets that can be recycled for the new website design project.
Website Design Proposal
We build to your budget and time line. We also offer the option of a phased roll out, letting your site gain the advantage of refined website marketing results before you invest in ecommerce programming or custom application development. It will take several weeks to gauge the success of your website marketing. You may want to defer the development of the more costly aspects of your business website design until you see the website traffic you're looking for.
Website Design Approval
During this phase the Graphic Design, Programming specifications and the Marketing plan will be submitted for approval. These separate components will be treated as distinct entities in terms of client approval. Note that once approval of any of these elements is received we will begin work.
Website Development Begins
Each of the 3 major designs (website graphic design, website programming and website marketing) differ in the details of their production cycles and we have established different internal milestones for each.
For example when dealing with the graphic design of a website, once an initial design is developed and approved internally it can be shown to a client. This process can happen relatively quickly. However, programming tends to require a much longer "incubation" time before the client will see any useful results and progress tends to be slow and steady after that. Marketing falls in the middle, as research requires a substantial amount of time and effort but once it's complete the client will receive a vast amount of information all at once.
Final Approval and Website Launch
Once all the website elements are assembled, tested and approved we launch the new (or redesigned) website. Final "live" testing immediately after launch verifies page content, images, links (internal and external) as well as the overall performance of the website.
Post-Launch Website Support Services
A variety of website maintain support contracts are available to ensure the continued success of your business website. Typically these include a marketing component as well as site modification budget.
